To those who expect to engage in as their life work, careers in Engineering, Chemistry, Aviation or other scientific fields, the Science department holds a special interest. This interest may develop from taking one of the Elementary courses offered by the High School, or the ioining of one of the scientific clubs sponsored by the department, and may result, at the last, in a high-salaried position of responsibilty in some well-known Hrm, Advancement in aviation particularly, is due in a large measure, to a keen interest taken by many while still in school, These men and women are now well- known in the field of air commerce. MATHEMATICS TEACHERS . . . These teachers are the ground instructors of the future pilots of industry, finance, and commerce. From them, students obtain the foundation for higher flights into the more advanced fields of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Chief pilot of this department is lvlr. Piccone who teaches second year algebra and advanced algebra. Under his leadership the Mathematics Depart- ment has given adequate instruction to those students who wish to prepare for further and more advanced learning. Those who attend college will find that this teaching has thoroughly grounded them in the basic phases of the seience of numbers, and students who have gained this knowledge of mathematics will End that they will not be forced to bail out in the middle of a college course. COMMERCIAL TEACHERS . . The instructors of the Commercial Department serve as a radio beam to students who are exploring Commercial Arithmetic and Bookkeeping. Some of the Commercial students are future controllers of the commercial affairs of the large transcontinental airlines, while others in vears to come may be charting courses for various in- dustries, The Commercial Department offers rewards in the form of pins and certificates to those who acquire pro- ficiency in the fields of Shorthand, Bookkeeping and Typ- ing. These awards are sponsored by the department as an incentive to more determined efforts on the part of commercial students to advance in the type of work they study. OTHER DEPARTMENTS . . . Not unlike a super-mainliner of the airways, Kingston High School also has its stcwardesses and co-pilots re- resented by teachers from various departments. Miss Bush and Miss Kitchener, of the Home Econ- omies Department, instruct many girls in the fine arts of sewing. culinary art, and homemaking. Our librarian, hiiss klacquelin Vfilliams, charts the courses for reports. essays, and debates by providing accurate and interesting reference material. Both she and hir. Kenny. our genial assistant librarian, render a valuable service in solving the queries of students, Miss Edwards capably instructs some of our future artists and designers, while hir. Heltzcl. directs a group of hoys in the study of mechanical drawing. Mr. Davis, music supervisor, and Mr. Moleski, the band director, furnish music for various school activities.
