BOB STAPLE was the runner-up in the men's sin- gles in the Iron Mountain Men's Tennis Tourna- ment on August 5, 1963. Bob and his partner, Gene Kargas, a junior, won the doubles. This tennis meet was open to any man from Iron or Dickinson County who wished to compete. There was a field of about 30 contestants participating in this annual affair. These boys deserve extra recognition because they competed against men who are almost pros in our area. Nice going, boys! SENIOR ACCOMPLISHMENT S SUSAN LAWS was chosen the 1964 D,A,R, Good Citizen of Kingsford High School, The Ezra Par- ker Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution annually award a certificate and pin to one senior girl who is named the good citizen of our school, Nomination, based on Honor, Dependability, Service, Leadership, and Patriot- ism, is first made by her classmates and then for- warded to the faculty for final approval. Sue is now eligible for the Michigan State Good Citizen Award. Congratulations, Sue! KAREN DETERT was named the 1964 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow. On December 3, 1963 Karen, among the senior girls scored highest on a written knowledge examination sponsored by the General Mills Company. Karen received a pin and her test paper will be entered in State-wide competition, If Karen wins she will receive a 351500 scholarship to the college of her choice and our school will be the recipient of a set of the Encyclopedia Britannica, Good job, Karen!
