THE CLASS OF 47 As an artrst takes hrs brush and blends hrs colors upon hrs palette before he begxns hrs parntmg so have we the Class of 47 care fully cmd cautrously added colors to our palettes of knowledge and character before we begm our murals of l1fe And we are proud that ln spxte of four years of mxxmg and blendmg addmg and detractmg our colors have remamed pure and brxght At the begmmng of our freshman year the only color on our palettes was green-and that we were But soon other colors began to appear blue-for the studxes we were sure we would flunk but somehow not many of us ever dmd And then wtth Freshman Sophomore Brawl a little yellow appeared not for cowardtce thts txme but for courage-for we won Red was added for the many good tlmes we had at the Semor Freshman Recep non the Freshman partles and programs By the end of our fresh man year our palettes contained all of the prlmary pa1nts but we soon realized that prxmary colors alone are not enough wxth whtch to pcnnt so for three more years we blended and worked wxth our colors Our sophomore year was rdeal for obtatmng secondary colors for our palettes-orange for the gay trmes we had rn worlung o scrap and paper drxves purple royally awarded for wmnmg the War Bond drtves sponsored by the Kiwanis Club and Student Body and for wmntng the Freshman Sophomore Brawl for the second time The hues and shades of our pamts began to take on depth for our rncreased actrvxtxes rn their yumor year Aqua was added for our successful presentation of Iunzor Miss Many colors lavender gold rose and a lrttle black grey navy and brown were blended on our palettes durmg the weeks of work on our Iunxor Senror Banquet Farryland was the theme of thxs festlvrty rn whlch we acted as hosts to the class of 46 A varxety of pastel shades were added for our work m the H1 Y and Trr H1 Y organx zatxons And rn the final year of preparatxon of our pamts we have added the rxchest tones vermxllxon for our Student Body actlvmes ma genta for the vanous sports actrvxtres fuchsra for or colorful and entertalnmg presentatlon Seven Ststers chartreuse for the Vxkmg Annual and cerlse for our varxous farewell partxes Bacca laureate and Graduatron exercxses Of course a great many shades and hues whtch we have not mentioned were added for the offxces we held the programs tn whtch we partxcrpated the courses we studied the extra curricular acttvtttes rn whch we took part school functxons whlch we attended For those of you who have so kmdly and generously guxded our hands ln mlxlng our pamts the admlmstratlon our sponsors our teachers our frrends our parents we the Class of 1947 Thank you But now rt IS tune for us to lzft with tremblmg hands our brushes dlp mto the pamts we have blended these past four years and start our murals of hte I I , A - I - 4 .
