“They say that life is a highway, and its milestones are the years’’. The years you spend ar Kings Mountain Senior High School, though they seem like they'll never end, are only three small milestones along the highway of your life. Compared to the length of the highway, these milestones are very brief periods of time, which can become merely blurred memories. This year's Milestones would like to keep those memories clear and fresh, so that in ten years, when you thumb through this publication, you can once again live in the world of your high school years. Here YOU will see pictures of friends, important events, and the Milestones you will always cherish. A great deal of time and work has gone into this year's edition of the Milestones. Producing an entire yearbook is not as easy as some people believe it to be. Deadlines have to be mer, layouts drawn, pictures taken, final layouts drawn, copy written, pictures posted on MSTC boards, and the material proofread and mailed. There is also the tedious taslk of counting votes for Senior Items and the difficulty of keeping Dedication a secret. Another problem, is dealing with some people who are dissatisfied with that “icky ’ picture of themselves going into the Annual. One more responsibility the annual staff has, is to keep the price of the Annual as low as possible to the students. We keep this cost down by selling ads to businesses. We hope you enjoy our work.

Dedication The Senior Class of 1980 is proud to dedicate this year’s Milestones to Mr. Blaine Froneberger, or Froney, or even Dr. Charcoal. Although he is known by many names, some NOt TOO pleasanr, he is usually referred to as Froney. His job is a difficult one. He is the one who has to discipline the class cut-up, the fighter, the truancies, and the tardies. He rarely gets to compliment a good performance, outstanding behavior, or hard worl. Froney is the one who hears the irate parents complain, explains why the bus driver was too early, too late, or nor there af all, and who won't believe the most believable excuse. Although some people can’t spell or even say his name correctly, they respect him and appreciate his efforts toward helping students stay in school, solve problems, and plan for the future. Because of Froney’s helping hand and his easy-going manner, the Milestones staff, the Senior Class, and the student body would like to congratulate him on a job well done.
