Mr. Harry E. Jaynes, Principal The school year 1962-63 at Kings Moun- tain High School will not reach its inevitable sunset without leaving numerous marks of distinction. Our entire student body was gravely affected by the Cuban Crisis. This nuclear war threat and the thorough pre- paration you made will long remain a dis- tinction. The additions of a complete Guid- ance Department and elementary special education classes have given you a new out- look on yourself and others. The use of the entire building for high school work has en- abled us to officially omit the name Central from our high school. The senior class holds the distinction of being the largest in the history of this school. It also ranks above most senior classes in leading the student body in its quest for excellence in education. The senior class holds still another distinction. This distinction is their leadership in one of our finest activities programs. We have excelled and expanded in many activities which will help us to keep the fine reputation presently enjoyed by all of us. As the year ends, everyone is faced with a vital school challenge. This challenge is the preparation and planning for our new high school. You, the faculty and student body, will have many opportunities to help estab- lish routines and to set standards for the new school. Let us all join together in this task, complete this planning and assure our community that the new high school will in- herit the rich educational traditions you have had a part in establishing.

Mrs. Wanza Davis, secretary to the Superintendent, demonstrates her ability in the office; she retains an abiding interest in all the students. Past president of the Kiwanis Club, Mr. Barnes is active in civic organizations. SOUND ADMINISTRATION EFFECTED THROUGH HARD WORK OF COMPETENT SUPERINTENDENT Cheryel McAbee, Mary Evans, Brenda Lovelace, and Marilyn Dixon help with work in Mr. Barnes’ office. It takes a Superintendent “on the move” to cover entire district.
