, X. SENIOR HISTORY On a September morning in 1957, the class of 1961 stood with quiver- ing knees on the brink of a new adventure- -a four year quest for further education. Not knowing what to anticipate, the end ofthe second week was rounded out with an organized program ofinitiation inwhich we played the leading rolls. Under the guidance of our class advisors, Miss Douglass and Mr. Dickie, and our class officers, our class began to take shape. ln our Sophomore year, we gave the traditional Sock Hop which was enjoyed by all. We gave dances and had several concessions in order to save money for our junior year. During this year our class advisors were Mrs. Pinkham and Mr. Pitcher. Now being mighty Juniors, we started out the year by receiving our class rings. Our pride and joy was our Halloween float which took first place. With the help of our class advisors, Miss Henzler, Mr. Kleine, and Mr. Etter. we sold candy, worked on concessions and other projects, to raise money for the prom for which the theme was Japanese Tea Gardens. ln the spring we gave the junior play MR. BARRY'S ETCHINGS, the plot cen- lering around a counterfeiter. After a fun-filled summer, we returned to complete our last year of high school. ln the fall we presented the comedy-drama, MELODY JONES for our senior play production. In the spring we attended the junior-senior prom. Elizabeth Mattos was Homecoming Queen, as chosen by the Varsity football players. Our class advisors, Mrs. Redmond, Mr. Williams, and Mr Pitcher, were a big help this year. Ditch day, the Senior Banquet, Bacca- laureate, and graduation exercises were soon to be past experiences. Each member of the class of 1961 will have fond memories of the days spent at King City Joim Union High School. A 1- i - H
