Breaking through a convenient hole, senior Chuck Meagher, C43l, dashes toward the goal line to score another touchdown. Knights Take E. .L. Crown For the first time in Kimba1l's short history the football team finished the season undefeated, placed first in the Eastern Michigan League, and ranked third in the state. The coveted Oak Stump for the first time made its home in the Knights' trophy case as they defeated their city rival, Dondero, by a score of 33-6. Other wins included Southfield, 26-75 Birmingham 27-135 Mt. Clemens, 12-05 Hazel Park, 32-05 Fitzgerald, 52-05 East Detroit, 54-65 and Port Huron, 45-6. Escaping his opposition, Wally Gabler, quar- terback, races downfield. The only tie of the season disap- pointed both of the undefeated teams involved, Kimball and Ferndale. As 7,500 fans turned out on the coldest, dampest night of the season they were faced with a disheartening 7-7 match. Coaching, needless to say, was the major factor in producing a team of this caliber. Head Coach Prentice Ryan, with the aid of assistants Paul Temerian and Bill Odykirk, provided the team with spirit and training. Seven members of Kimball's first string squad were honored with positions on the Royal Oak Tribune's All South Oakland County Team. On offense were Wally Gabler, quarterback5 Craig Kirby, endg Dick Ries, guardg and Earl Cald- well, tackle. On defense were Randy Frank, endg Ben Shellnut Ccaptainj, guardg and Russ Maynard, back.
