Mr. Durrett, born in Missouri, was raised in a small town. When he was young, studying law was an ambition of his, but due to unavoidable reasons he was unable to fulfill his desire. This did not stop himg he went to Iowa State Uni- versity Where he received a Master of Arts degree and had the honor of being elected the President of the Student Body. Coaching at the Oak Cliff High School, now named Adamson, was the beginning 0f.Mr. Durrett's career in the Dallas Independent School District. Later, he became Principal of Margaret B. Henderson Elementary School and then Boude Storey Junior High School. Mr. Durrett was appointed Principal of Kimball High School when it opened in 1958. Mr. Durrett has the opinion that education is for everyone. '4Education gives a person an ambition, a motivation, and a challenge? He feels people should learn as much as they possibly cang then, use it to their best ability.
