ROW TWO: Larry Hartman, Joe Kary, Frank Braun, Lee Schmalz, Maynard Feist, Earl Twist, Gary Houghton, Bemard Buresh, Gerald Braun, Harold Olson, Robert Hedger, Darl Grevious. Paced perfectly by Coach Fischer the Kill- deer Cowboys captured their first district championship in fifteen years and gained a position in the Region Eight tourney. The first great accomplishment for the Cowboys occurred during a Christmas tourney held at Arnegard . The quint downed a strong Mandaree five and came home with the first place trophy. In the Dunn County tournament, late in ' January, the Cowboys turned back a persistent Halliday team to capture championship honors of the tourney. The Regional tournament saw the Cowboys drop two very close games . The first game had a spread of three points and the last game had only a one point difference .
