K if H73 :li ALMA MATIEIR It was back in 1874 that the institution was established that eventually became our high school. Dr. Alexander gave the funds to build the first building for the institution which bore his name. Some forty years ago, about 1894, Alexander Institute suffered from lack of support and was moved to Jacksonville where it assumed the present name of Lon Morris College. With the Institute moved, Kilgore Public Academy of ten grades was established which was continued in the old college buildings until the pres- ent site was donated and a red brick building built in 1912. In 1912 Kilgore High School had its first graduating class with three members who with the rest of the school were taught by a faculty of four. ' This year we moved into our new S250,000 building where we are taught by a faculty of eighteen in high school alone. Our graduating class consists of eighty-six members out of 650 students in high school and we may select our course from twenty-four subjects BOARD OF EDUCATION John E. This year it has been our purpose to reflect in our activities and pictures, a panorama of life on and off the campus that will re- call happy aehieveinents not only to the Seniors of 1934 but also to those of succeed- ing years and thus to strengthen that bond which unites all Kilgore High School Stu- dents.
