THIRD ROW: Janice Bauer, Linda McClune, Karlene Heeter, Bonnie Taylor, Debbie Kapp. On a sunny day last fall, about 15 freshmen were seen walking quickly through the halls. They were trying to make sure no one saw their bobby socks and tenny runners. This unique clothing indicated their initiation into the G. A. A. The Girls, Athletic Association is designed to encourage athletic achievement. Many enjoyable activities are par- ticipated in by the girls every year. They hold play nights with various other athletic organizations, usher for the plays held in the school, and generally have a good time. It is the hope of almost every freshman girl that she will be accepted as a G. A. A. member.

With the coaches as advisors, the Varsity K stands as a symbol of achievement in the field of sports. The general pur- pose of the club is to arouse more interest in and recognition for our athletes. The Varsity K has been very active in promoting interscholastic sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and track. The only qualification necessary to be eligible for this club is a letter earned in varsity basketball, varsity football, varsity track or varsity baseball. These boys are also eligible for varsity jackets. The Varsity K has sponsored such activities as dances after home basketball games and the sale of school sweatshirts, T-shirts, and pens. Future urses of America Under the supervision of Mrs. Elna Whitling, R. N., and Mrs. Donna Radaker, R. N., the Future Nurses of America operates as a learning organization. Opportunities for to- morrowis nurses in the various fields of nursing are discussed at the meetings. Guest speak- ers describe such things as the possibilities in public health nursing, opportunities in the armed forces, and the first-hand experience of student nurses. To com- plete the learning pro-N cedures, each year the FNA plans a service project to fill some com- munity need.
