In the illuminating light of a huge bonfire, faces could be seen shining with excitement and anxiety. At once all eyes turned toward the senior football players as they bravely tore down the Karns City dummy and tossed it into the flames. Everyone rallied and cheered their loudest as the cheerleaders lead an entwining snake dance about the school. This was the start of the Homecoming Week-end. Saturday morning the finishing touches were added to the gymnasium in preparation for the dance that evening. The seniors had taken charge of the dance and decorated the gym to appear as an authentic football field, complete with goal posts on each end, refreshment stand and a huge football suspended from the ceiling. Every night of the preceding Week was spent making the decorations. Much enthusiasm was put into the assembling of the football, but some anxiety arose when someone subtly whispered, Are you sure it isn't an eggplant? The next and most important event of the week- end was the game that afternoon with Karns City. The boys were full of spirit and were truly out to win, but luck was with the Gremlins and the game ended 26-19 in their favor. Saturday evening the annual Homecoming Dance was held. The dance was a definite success with the biggest crowd ever. As the Plants softly strummed Little One, Kathy Best was crowned Homecoming Queen.
