Our Selma! Gfrcst Our school crest, initiated in the 1965-1966 school year, symbolizes, the tour branches of learning brought forth by the educational system of Keystone High School. The four educational branches are the Arts-symbolized by the lamp, Music-symbolized by the lyre, Athletics-symbolized by the winged foot, and the Sciences-symbolized by the atoms. ln the center of the crest is a keystone in which are found the initials K.H.S. for Keystone High School. Surrounding the keystone are four symbols of industry which have aided in the development of this area. These industrial symbols are the pump jack, signifying the oil industry, the glass blower's pipe, the glass industry, the plow, agriculture, and the iron furnace, the once important iron industry. At the top of our crest is our school symbol and mascot-the panther. 32

Drake Well. the intricate maps we mocle for ancient history. our first gym class. discovering what a study hall was. the panicky feeling when signing that little blue book . the thrill of being a BIG junior high basketball player. being eighth graders and considering seventh graders as strictly small fries. our professional eighth grade projects. the days of misconduct slips. Mr. Wise's science classes. signing Mr. Aaron's paddle. our eighth grade prom. the many places we visited on our Pittsburgh trip. Freshmen initiations. those difficult decisions-Latin? Art? French? christening the new wing as Freshmen. the time Debby and Cindi crawled out the window to save a baby bird from the lawn mower. study halls in the cafeteria. Latin trips to Buhl Planetarium. French parties of bread and cheese. honey and wine in Latin class. when a whole class hid from Miss Wilshire. sore muscles from cheering and majorette tryouts. those smoke rings from the boiler room. our junior year when Gretchen's team won the basket- ball intramurals. our beach party in ninth grade. our first impressions of Mr. Austin. the boys trying out for the varsity sports. skipping classes. eating french fried ants in biology. the Tri-Class Play. our secret ballots in selecting class rings. Industrial Arts with Mr. Thompson. joining clubs so that we could get out of those ninth period study halls. mischievous rooters to away games. those trips to Conneaut Lake and the hysterical rides on the Blue Streak . ' those unpredictable speech classes. Mrs. Minich's little box of colored chalk. our fragrant and explosive chemistry labs. the day Chuck and Bill knocked down the goal post. the day Sara and Sally broke the flag pole. winning the Keystone-Clarion football game. Buck asking Mrs. Terwilliger for permission to go to the potty . Christmas card sales. Gretchen and her needle. the little green snake that visited geometry class. Borrowing snow fences for, making our beautiful Summer Place . being the first to receive those gorgeous round rings. the unintentionally low ceiling for our prom. our sleepy P.O.D. classes. dancing the Teaberry Shuffle down the halls. the day the girls all wore pigtails. the weird advanced math classes. Cadette teaching for senior FTA members. those exhausting football practices and heartbreaking games. the stiff competition of our magazine sales. the fight we won to have a Homecoming Dance. our insane play One Mad Night . our Homecoming pep session. playing jacks and cage ball at the senior class party. those lovely senior pictures. tedious physics labs.
