Spcrials ,4 Wards HONOR'S CHORUS DISTRICT CHORUS ROW ONE: Hope Henry, Bernice Whitehill, Gretchen Flath, Doris Jean Best, Joyce Over, Bruce Weaver, Jim Dollhopf LaDonna Linamen, Norma Humphrey. ROW TWO: Jim Dollhopf, Rick Bowser, Chip Huston, Bruce Weaver. NORMA JEAN-STATE BAND Norma Jean Humphrey represented Keystone High School at the Regional State Band Festival at Elizabeth-Forward High School in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, on February 10, 11, and 12 of 1966. She won this position by placing first chair, second flute section, at the previous Dis- trict Band Festival at Slippery Rock. BERNICE'S TRIP TO WASHINGTON, D.C. Bernice Whitehill was chosen to repre- sent Keystone High School during the RURAL YOUTH TOUR from June 6-10, 1966. This was sponsored by rural elec- tric systems throughout the nation. The theme of this event, GOVERNMENT IN ACTION, was highlighted by a tour of the nation's capital, a speech by the President of the United States, and a banquet in the ballroom of the Marriot Hotel. GRETCHEN'S PROJECT, EXPERIMENTS WITH THE HUMAN BLOOD Gretchen Flath won the Grand Prize at the Northern Appalachian Regional Science Fair held at Keystone High School. Among the awards she received was a microscope, a set of World Book Encyclo- pedias, and the oppor- tunity to exhibit her science project at the International Science Fair in Dallas, Texas, May 11-15, 1966.

Special ,A wards THE CRISCO AWARD LEFT: Linda Hartzell was presented the Crisco Award in recognition of her outstanding work in home economics . This award is given to the girl who most successfully combines excellence in home eco- nomics with a broad range of accomplishments in other subiects and extra-curricular activities. BETTY CROCKER HOMEMAKER OF TOMORROW AWARD RIGHT: Kay Hauthe won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow award as a result of achieving high scores on a Betty Crocker test given to all senior girls last year. The winning of this award made her eligible to com- pete for the State Homemaker of Tomorrow . Gary Jeannerat, Keystone Farmer of 'l966 , receives the THE DE KAUB AWARD Tops in Corn Production. Mr. Showers award from Mr. Showers, Vocational Agriculture Instructor. I presents awards to Doug Penny, David Rhoades, Melvin Kopp, David Rhoads, Thomas Rhoads. SPELLING BEE CHAMPS. Pictured above is Mr. Austin pre- senting awards to Richard Elliot icenterj, 1966 Spelling Bee Champion of K.H.S. and Stanley Whitling, the runner-up. As the winner, Dick received a dictionary and the opportunity to compete in the spelldown in Oil City on March 25, 1966. As runner-up, Stanley received a ballpoint pen. D.A.R. AWARD. Pictured above is Janice Seigworth receiving the Good Citizen Award from Mr. Austin, high school principal. This award, made available by the Daughter's of the American Revolution, was presented to her in recog- nition of her outstanding qualities of service, dependability, leadership, and patriotism.
