7. tery, where we viewed the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. From Arlington, we pro- ceeded to Mount Vernon, the former home of George Wash- ington. The buildings and grounds ofthis vast estate and George Washington's tomb were most impressive. After dinner we went to the movies, giving our chaperons an opportunity to rest. The last day came all too soon. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial was our First stop. Then we visited Mr. James C. Auchineloss, Congressman from New jersey, who talked to us and shook our hands. The Smithsonian Institute and the White House were next on the list. Later that afternoon, we toured the buildings and grounds of the United States Naval Academy at An- napolis, Maryland. There we saw the chapel and the tomb of john Pauljones. Tired, but happy, we started on the long ride home. Even though the trip is over, those three wonderful days will al- ways live in our memories, for on this trip, we formed lasting ties of friendship. In conclusion, we want to thank the chap- erons who helped to make this trip a memorable one - Miss Tombleson, Miss Reilly, Mr. Jones, Mr. White, and Mr. Search. SQL. X X t st A NN. 'N Q

After leaving the Gallery, we boarded the buses and headed for the Hotel Raleigh, where we had dinner and an opportunity to rest. After dinner, we visited the Library of Congress, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Air- port. This airport is the third busiest in the world. Our first day in Washington ended with a stop at one of Washington,s Hot Shoppes. Shortly after midnight, the lights in our rooms were out and we fell asleep to dream of tomorrow. Following a hearty breakfast in the hotel cafeteria, we set out for the Washington Monument. Some of the more en- ergetic climbed the 898 steps up to the top. The view was worth the many steps. Then we visited the Bureau of Engrav- ing and Printing and the Department ofjustice Building. Here we went on a guided tour through the various depart- ments ofthe F. B. l. In the afternoon we drove to Arlington National Ceme-
