The tirst tournament was volleyball with Tuckers Tomboys winning. Then came the basketball tournament which was in the process when the annual was printed. The Varsity Drag was a huge success. Decorated with red and white socks, pennants, and suitcases tor the Kayhi team. Black and white tor the Juneau team. Round cakes dec- orated as basketballs spelling Juneau and Kayhi. Points were given tor outside activities such as: roller skating, hiking, swimming, and a badminton tournament was held in the spring. The drill team was directed by Karen Synnestvedt, captain, and Beverly Nelson, co- captain, The drill team wore dark skirts, white blouses, and maroon school sweaters. The drill team did Alaska Flag with Blue and Gold flashlights and a group ot girls sang Alaska s Flag. Awards were given at the Award Assembly tor girls who had earned high points. ma. 15.0 78
