The F lame offlchzefvement Senzor Class Offzcers Presldent Pat Crowley xce Presldent yle Slmpson Secretary Gerda Nergaard Treasurer Delphme Damelson Sergeant at Arms Wally Wmston Senzor H zstory OR EIGHT years before burstmg through the gate 1nto the O1ymp1c Stadlum the Torch Bearers struggled acrrss the moun tams and pla1ns of then' grade schools In 1949 thexr long cro scountry struggle be h1nd them the Bearers leaped th1'0ugh the entrance and began the lap ar und the arena that would end wlth thelr placlng of the T01 ch h1gh on the Olympxc Pedestal Leadmg the runners was Pat Crowley presldent Close behxnd hlm were Phll Tucker V1C6pI'BSld9Ilt Delphme Dan1e1son secretary Marvm Bue treasurer and Davld Whlte sergeant at arms Near the beglnnmg of their Journey a group of GIIGUIIBS the sophomores descend ed upon the runners and trled to slow them down by dressmg them 1n we1rd costumes Bemg txred from evadmg the sophomores they decided to take a rest thus they had the Freshman Frollc Shme on Harvest Moon After the Journey reconvened Patrlcla Root represented our cla s 1n the contest for Queen of the Kayh1 annual Bemg out of cond1t1on from the rest we pla ed second 1n the contest As we came to the end of the frrst quar ter of our Journey Delphme Damelson re At the beglnnmg of the second curve 1n our Journey Pete Schust was elected presl dent D1ck Maddox vlce presxdent Pat Crowley se retary treasurer and Harold McCann sergeant at arms As we progress ed on our way we encountered a new group of freshmen St1ll tendlng our wounds from our trouble on the flrst curve we took It out on them They recelved an 1n1t1at10n that was an 1n1t1at1on Flve ol our best runners Dxck Hamlm Lyle Slmpson Dxck Maddox Ph1l Tucker and Marv1n Bue were selected for the bas ketball team We were all proud of them and celebrated the OCCHSIOH Wlth a dance Tne only dlfference was that the glrls were requwted to pay Thls type of dance 1S now a tradltlon at thls pomt ln the Journey Havlng reached the end of the second curve we were all lookmg forward to the end of our long Journey Harold M Cann outran Pete Schust as we came 1nto thlS th1rd curve so he moved mto the offlce of presldent and Pete de scended to V106 president Phll Tucker was elected to keep the events of th1s stretch 1n our Journey on record and MHTVIH Bue, ll-Lnhn-:L O O O l I ' Y 1 .
