Painted faces and strange outfits were worn by the initiates. With the help from their sponsor, Mr. Contreras, and the rest of the members, President Kathy Kubo made plans to take a trip to a Mission on the coast. Spanish Club members enjoyed having money-making projects to increase their treasury. Mr. Contreras and Kathy Kubo get together to talk over future plans.

TFL Efyoyed cz IVQ Mr. Ken Boyd got a good chance to try out his new ideas on the students and their speeches this year. Tournaments were held at Central, McLane, Fresno High, and Clovis and the one at Roosevelt got their year off and running. Having car washes and a lot of pay-off activities gave the members the necessary money. The club planned a four day toumament at Manhatten Beach in March. Debates and individual events were involved in the tournament. Keith Wilcox and Mr. Boyd exchange ideas on speech writing. The newly organized Chess Club, with their sponsor Mr. Seay and club president Dan Crane, got off to a good start. Tournaments began in the middle of the year and the winners were awarded with new chess sets. The active members spent the majority of their noon hours in heated competition.
