me the Limelzght Lions gang tackle Avenal man. The Kerman Lions J.V. football team came out with a record of 2-7 which was pretty good considering that they ended up with only 13 boys on the team. They started practicing with the Varsity team in August. Prospects didn't look good after 46-0 loss against Lindsey in the first game. When the going gets tough the tough get going, so the boys did not quit. They practiced harder than ever under our fine coaches. In the second game they did much better against Dinuba winning 18-6. The league game started and things got better with a 24-0 victory over Laton. J .Vfs lost their four last games. Bruno Lometti was chosen by the team as the best offensive player and also the most valuable player.'David Zumwalt was chosen as the best defensive player and Scott Foth and Dean Priest were chosen as the co-captains. Priest catches a touchdown pass.

Freshmen Struggle This year the freshmen players were introduced to the riggors of high school football by coach Tom Cuadros. Emphasis was not only on such things as tackling, running, and blocking, but also on an all important feature, discipline. Offensively, the team was led by John Kampschmidt, the quarterback, and Ramiro Cantu, a halfback. The team's defensive leaders were Clark Salenik and Dan Nikitrn. Even though the freshmen team wasn't in any defined league or conference, the coaches set up four games for them. They had a potentially good team, but bad breaks kept them from winning any ball games. The best they could do was a tie with Tranquillity in the season opener. The next two games were with Central and Coalinga. They ended the season with a tough loss to Tranquillity, Kerman defense combines to smother Tranquillity man. - .. . ,. WW., . . ,.H,..,. , K ...i.
