Nale. ln addition to their regular studies on their voyage, the seventh grade developed a Speech Club, sponsored by H. R. Poetker. To be a member of this club, seventh graders had to be up with all their class work and be making a grade ot C or better.,Good conduct in the classroom was also a must to become a member. Officers in this speech club were Carol DeVries, presi- dent, Diane Van Wyhe, vice president, Ardene David- son, secretary-treasurer, and Alan Scharf, sergeant-at arms .... Among other accomplishments of the class were cooking, sewing, art, and beginning band .... The boys played ball games with the eighth grade boys and also tried their skills in wood shop .... A Book Club was organized the second semester under the guidance of Mrs. Margaret Nelson. Pupils who took part in this activity ordered worthwhile, educational pocket book editions through the club, and were there- by encouraged to develop good reading habits. Seventh Grade. Owens, R. Solis, D. Funker. Publishing the Little Kub with Ronald Hayworth as editor was one of the many activities during the sail of the eighth grade .... Another activity was band, where they furthered their knowledge of music .... Then there was sewing, accomplished by the girls, so as to enable them to know more about different materials and the change of styles: also cooking, which taught them how to plan meals correctly .... Woodshop skill proved to be a great achieve- Tnent of the eighth grade boys .,.. John Castine sponsored a class reading club, through which members bought pocket- book editions of worthwhile books .... Of course neither boys nor girls neglected the three R's ....
