KENSlNGTON'S ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS
Mr. Abraham Axlerod Mr, j, Nm-man Hayes
"The purpose in a man's mind is like deep water, but a man of
understanding will draw it out,"
Mr. Garnett F. Roberts
l A SALUTE TO Miz. ROBERTS
Last September Mr. Garnett Roberts graciously
assumed the administrative duties at Kensington
during the illnesses of Mr. Chassin and Mr. Axlerod.
Thirty-four years ago Mr. Roberts began his adminis-
trative career in Buffalo, as assistant principal of
Masten Park under Dr. Fosdick, and later under Mr.
Hersey. He became principal in 1939, and remained
at the helm until Masten's closing in l953. Mr.
Roberts was then made director of the new center
schools. However, in September, he was needed here
at Kensington for a period of six weeks. He then
resumed his regular position.
Mr. Roberts is a man of varied interests. ln his
earlier days, he was an avid outdoors man, as well as
a coach and golf fan. Now, his main interests are
photography and oil painting.
A good friend of youth, Mr, Roberts believes in
giving every student opportunities throughout his
educational career. He thinks the school makes this
possible by developing the student.
We sincerely thank you, Mr. Roberts, for coming
to Ken in our time of need. The faculty and the
entire student body salute you and wish you every

MR. CHASSIN'S MESSAGE TO THE GRADUATES
Mr. John N. Chassin
"The man ot understanding is of a precious spirit."
Congratulations to the Class of l954l
You are now on the threshold of new adventure. The years at Kensington should
prepare you, in some measure, for the kind of work you wish to do after graduation. Face
the future with courage and faith in the ideals you aspire to. Work hard at the job of
your choice, give generously of your time and enthusiasm to obtain the respect and trust
of your employer and fellow workers. Share the burden with others in your community,
to make it a better place in which to live. By doing these things you strengthen the
heritage handed down by your forefathers that ours is a country under God, of the people,
for the people and by the people.

Miss Henrietta Langner, Mr. John McMahon, Miss Pauline Corcoran.
This year we welcomed two new girls' guidance
counselors, Miss Corcoran and Miss Langner have
aided Kensington girls in solving many problems.
With Mr, McMahon, boys' counselor, they assist
students in planning post-high school education,
securing part-time work, and selecting the proper
courses of study. Their advice and encouragement
have been invaluable. Both boys and girls appre-
ciate the services of the guidance office.
Numerous students have profited by the interest
inventories and mental abilities tests offered by the
guidance department. In addition, the counselors
have presented expert speakers on various careers,
have informed upper classmen of open house pro-
grams, and have provided information concerning
scholarships in colleges and universities. Kensing-
ton's guidance counselors are always ready, willing,
and able to serve,
Mrs Nntnlv Giiarnatrin, Miss Rita Sinnott, Miss I-lorcnce Lchtlc, Ailrmnistrntivc
All the seething currents of school
activity find a quiet harbor in Kensing-
ton's office. The gracious and efficient
staff calms the storm of student questions,
serenely fills faculty requests, and keeps
the academic channels clears
