..as we see it...is bright.. l952. . .At Last We Were Seniors The long-awaited occasion was upon usg we were seniors. We had reached that most precious moment. We experienced exultation: yet we were sad. The first order of business: football and track with their throbbing excitement and fanfare of cheering: Rah! rahl rahl Team! team! teaml and ultimately the victory assemblies known well to our champions Hal C-eiger, Bob Butler, and Ralph Bowen as well as to Sonny Coletta, Marcia Macie- iewska, and loan Butler, who officiated as flower girls. And, lest we forget, the cheerleaders, Pat Nemec, Lou Ferris, and Bunny Munger, who are undoubtedly still puffing from their exhausting efforts. joan McKenna, Olga Kempker, Harry Schugardt and some fifty others have gain- ed valuable vocational experience from our school work program. At the open house on Parents' Night a very practical facet of our talent was displayed in a style show with Dorothy Peters supplying the patter, Only this time the expert tailoring was the handiwork of the models themselves - Shirley Kranz, joanne Kowal, Carol Fisher, and Audrey Abbott. lt is, however, needless to say that all of this could not have been so well organized without the staff of competent ushers, headed by Dick Corbetta and his crew, Dick Olson, Olin Bender, and Ho- ward Palley. With the approach of january examina- tions, seniors had to buckle down, for in reality they faced that sixty-four dollar question: Am l to be graduated? lt's hats off to Louise Granata, Rosemary Mast- ers and C-erry Scoones, who burnt the mid- night oil in their supreme endeavor to suc- ceed. Seniorhood brought the prerogative of accepting the challenge afforded by the State Scholarship Examinations. This year the wreaths for tenacity belong to Marilyn Bickle, Joanne Rich and Mike Pembleton for repeated attendance at the evening scholarship classes. With the approach of graduation we elected our class officers: President, Dave Seitz, Vice-President, Aglaia Economoug Treasurer, Bob Butler, Secretary, Ruth C-ritzkeg Marshals, Barb Bottomley and Dick Hall. Veterans Rog Folts, Ed Dowski and Myron Cebulski, assisted by new-comers Dan Wachowiak and Ray Zacholski, were stalwarts on Mr. Millard's racket squad as they battled against the opposition. Earl Boyer, Robert McTigue, and jim Shea were hustling players on Ken's baseball team. The girls' enthusiasm for athletics was evidenced by the large number who received their Cold K. Important positions on the COMPASS were held by Nancy Hinman and Nancy Walter, co-editors: Adele Wobig and Cordon Arber, art editors: Barbara Sturges, secretarial editor. Academically, Lorraine Meinke, William Hooper, Carol Rothfuss, Ronald Melgier and Audrey Hoe- flin were the senior honor roll leaders. Anna Cille gained honorable mention in the Westinghouse Science Talent Search Con- test, lim Bonitati received honorable men- tion in the Americanism Contest, and Patricia Brown won the American Legion Oratorical Contest. Representing Ken in the lnterscholastic Debate were Bob Menth, William Hooper, jim Ryan, Pat O'Leary, Howard Palley, Dave Seitz and Barbara Certz. Participating in the spring play, What a Life, either as Thespians or behind-the- scenes workers, were Pat Brown, lean Finsterbach, Dave Seitz, Nan Walter, Doug Barber, Dave Wilkinson, Felicia Musial, Herman Kuebler, Nancy Molter, Barb Gil- bert, Marilyn Schwing, Brad Massman, Barb C-oembel and june Brann. just as all good things must come to an end, so must this, the record of achieve- ment of the Class of '53. We hope that what we have accomplished here will serve to be an inspiration to those who succeed us and will always be remembered by us with joy, pride and sincere appreciation. We shall go forward with the knowledge that truth is the strongest shield: Virtus fortissima aegis. Aglaia Er-onomou David Wilkinson Barbara C-oernbel Robert Menth Dawn Marie Koch Howard Pallev Lorraine Meinke Ronald Melgier
