Zintruhuttnnn 0150 015132 Zliibszmz We have chosen as our theme Freedom and Human Rights Democracy s Prlceless Heritage in order to show the achiex ements of man in war and peace Man has learned to use his mind as well as his strength to conquer evil forces and to discover new ways of living Our symbol the Kensington Knight on horseback has been used to persomfy the underlying theme It represents the crusader for defense protector of the accomplishments of man upholder of human rights and preserver of our democracy Each illustration throughout the book portrays a medieval tapestrv contrasting the simple life of primitne man with the American of today who lives with every modern convenience available The strip in the tapestry with the white background depicts the growth and development of man at peace vxhxle the strip with the black discovery of fire we advance upward to the discovery of the atom with man growing in knowledge in the fields of religion art literature music science and invention We are today fighting a crusade to uphold the ideals which vte have expressed in our illustrations and writings Are we the leaders of tomorrow going to allow another black strip to be added to the tapestry or are we going to put our long acquired knowledge to its mtended use and bring religion peace and security to mank1nd'7 aku qw E L L E SCHLD I background depicts the problems of man in time of war.
