CL ASS HISTORY It was that fateful day in September And long we shall remember Our first bewlldering day at Ken Twas moral support we longed for then Entering Kensington in September 1947 we were warmly greeted by our new principal Mr Charles Monan who promptly told us to have no fear of the upperclassmen We tried to believe him but somehow had our doubts when we were very sternly instructed to carry a load of trays in the cafeteria or else' The flrst actlvlty on the agenda of our social calender was the Hal lowe en Party lfor girls onlyr Forgetting our restrlcted calorie 11st we devoured mounds of cake and ice cream We were entertained by such notables as Mickey Parisi Corky Vkheelock and Janet Fogelsonger Turning our eager eyes to sports we found our cross country team almmg toward winning the much coveted Columbia Cup Although me didnt quite make it the boys on the team were spurred on by Frosh Tom Zebold Dave Johnson Leigh Relchert and Carl Roesch Soon we began seeing boys going through all mised that it must be none other than our fab ulous football team doing their daily dozen Audaclous freshmen were B111 Cunlus and Ed Faber Soon we were hearing strains of the Hallelujah Chorus and the Glorious echoing through the corridors reminding us that Saint Nick would soon be here At our annual pageant r 1-75-,H we were surprised and pleased to find Jack McMahon as one of the soloists Assisting him were B111 McTigue Joe Hartrich Bill Wallace and Tom Lysiak Our January exams successfully dismissed to the past we focused our attention on swimming Remember the meets we used to attend feeling like so many sard1nes But it was well worth it for our fanatic mermen were shattering records left and right with the help of Jim Barry Noel Eberz Dick Schmitt and Neil Mahoney For a successful year in sports we proudly accepted the Williams Trophy The girls not to be outdone by the boys had a notable year also Outstanding sports enthusiasts were Ma donna Shea Jeri Keating Shirley Mammot Dolores Furbo Janice Selbert Sue Haun and Nancy H111 After much to1l1ng through exams we learned that Peggy Volk had won the Fresh man Attainment Medal Thus we had ended our After enjoying a much needed vacation We began the old grind again but with lighter hearts for now we had one less flight of stairs to climb which certalnly makes a difference when you are toting a world history book with you every day lContmued on Page 1492 ,J -.Aa 'fr' f l.i f5L'5-G' ,..rN. sorts of antics back of our school.
