Edith Taylor filaledictory N Tl-llS, Buffalo's newesf high school, fhese are fhe days of beginnings, days of fhe esfablishmenf of high sfandards in scholarship, in afhlefics, and in conducf. For fhis reason fhe farewell of fhe firsf graduafing class, wifh ifs mingled regref and ioy, is unique. ' The Romans, during fhe glorious days of fheir civilizafion. bade farewell by saying Vale! Today we say Valel fo fhe various individuals wifh whom we have enioyed such pleasanf associafions. We recognize fhe unceasing efforfs and efficienf leadership of Mr. McDonnell, our principal, as well as his unfiring devofion fo our besf welfare. If is nof wifhouf regref fhaf we parf wifh lvlr. Chassin, our assisfanf principal, who has made his worfhy confribufion fo fhe efficienf conducf of our school. To our pafienf, hehnful feachers, fo whose kindly efforfs. from day fo day, we owe so much of our success, we say an affecfionafe farewell. C of fhe associafion wifh our fellow sfudenfs. Each one of us is richer because of fhe friendships we have formed here. ln parfing, our regrefs mingle wifh high hopes -and anficipafion of fhe fufure. lf, fwenfy yearsi hence, fhe clear, clarion fones of a magic frumpef should call us fogefher, whaf accomplishmenfs would we have wroughf, whaf famous personages would be among us! Among fhe happiesf memories of our school life are fhose ' Though we have been here only one shorf year. we are bound by sfrong 'ries fo Kensingfon. We all feel a special pride in our modern school, unsurpassed in our cify for ifs archifec- fural beaufy and for fhe complefeness of ifs equipmenf. When Kensingfon fakes parf in inferscholasfic compefifion, we are confidenf if will be fhe oufsfanding school. Though we shall nof be here fo share in her glory, we shall feel a special glow of pride in our hearfs. ' While we are sorry fhaf our school life is over, we are eager fo fake our places in fhe world. Kensingfon has given us ideals of loyal friendship and good sporfsmanship, and sfandards of worfh. Wherever we go, whafever work engages our falenfs, we pledge ourselves fo be, in fhe words of Roberf Browning One who never furned his back buf marched breasf forward, Never doubfed clouds would break, Never dreamed, fhough righf were worsfed, wrong would friumph, l-leld, we fall fo rise, are baffled fo fighf beffer, Sleep fo wake. -EDITH TAYLOR. png e 1'
