sports: Dave Dunlap as a baseball catcher: Rich Patton, all- league tennis champion: Dan Galvan. football center: all- league choice Art Alfaro in basketball: and all-league soccer player Dan Paton. lcoached by Daryl Talkenl. Kennedy's C basketball team had the most winning season ever. 1969 kind of went downhill in sports. The only standout was Greg Maestas, East Bay Prep Writers' Prep of the week in soccer. 1970 started off right. In football the Titans made history with a 5-4 season. with leading rusher John Liburdi to help. Varsity basketball took second, varsity soccer took third in the Northern California tourney at Cubberly, and frosh-soph soccer. winners of the M.V.A.L. went undefeated. In 1971. ,. lulty taking Back of the Year and Garth Jaehnig 'Linrman of the Year awards. In track freshmen smashed Q 4 ghr records and had a big turnout under first-year track Bob Sletten. Tennis proved to be good too, with Rick F'5f':t'.1 returning to Kennedy to coach. ln 1974 cross country O 1 I 'irst place. Girls were part of the Titan swim team. G.A.A. girls are finally getting the support and recognition they deserve in their competitive sports under coaches Pat Miller, lheadl, Diane Coelho, Joy Cassady, and Debbie Schafer.
