CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 19W- we began our long journey toward success. Our first grade teacher. Miss Angelyn Johnson, did a fine job of teaching us spelling, reading and arithmetic. We couldn't understand why our lower elementary teachers insisted on our eating all our food and taking our daily rest period. We went through grammar school rapidly, growing each year physically, mentally, and Spiritually. Our sponsor, Mrs. Yvlette Savage, was also our fourth grade teacher. At that time none of us realized that she would be the one to sponsor through our junior and senior years. In the fourth grade we lost Gwendola Black and gained Conner Spencer, Virginis Howton, and Landon Prater. Finally we entered high school all confused and frightened. Our sponsor, Mrs. J.C. Richardson, and our new principal, Mr. Charles P. Hayes made it easier for us. In the seventh grade we lost Patricia Davis and gained Shirley Simms. Coach Carpenter was our eignth grade sponsor. This year we lost Shirley Plyler, Ray Barrett, Roberta Richardson, and Eline Thornton. Ask Roberta what she remembers about the eighth grade. In the ninth grade we entered Home Economics and Agriculture. This was one of our happiest school years since our subjects did much to prepare us for future life. This year we lost Mavis Foster. In the tenth grade we really began to feel important because we could see the end nearing. We lost Mavis Baswell and gained Eleanor Faulkner, Colon Cork, and Earl Goree this year. The eleventh grade was one of the best years of our whole school life. We'll never forget our class play, Papa Says No and what a day when we made preparations for our Junior-Senior Banquet entitled April Showers . Mozell Carroll, Mary Wright, and Raymond Watkins became one of the blanch this year. Evelyn Bradford jumped on up to finish a year ahead of us. We lost Ethel Porter through Matrimony. The fall of Sb brought us to our Senior year and the privilege of having Mrs. Savage for our sponsor. Ruth Crowley and Nell Blaylock joined us this year. We lost Mary Wright and Sidney Holliman. This year has been filled with excitment and loads of work but we realize it all goes along with being a senior. Although the way has been long and difficult we know it has payed off for at last we are Seniors lllli Laudeen Owens Class Historian
