To otu' dear old Alma Mater, we leave the records of our grades. In our estimation these should create enough memories. Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Norma Young leaves her giggle to shirley Kirby. Bobby Turner leaves his peroxide and hair curlers to Sue Kiracofe. Merium Ellis leaves the newspaper to Dolores Lupton and the head- ache that goes with it. Barbara Horstman leaves her method of celebrating Leap Year to Leah Ray Mears. Mary Anna Brooks leaves her ability to get and hold men to Rita Laramey. Kay Reid bequeaths her graceful walk to Iune Garrenton and her Wit to Edward DeFord. Warren Bowman leaves his detailed information of the principal's office and Kempsvillels Code of punishment to Buddy Duplain, who hasnit been using it lately. Kathleen Iennings leaves a bit of her blubber to Ella Mae Rodgers. Loretta Kelley and Iimmy Spivey leave their ability to hold hands in class and get by with it to Hazel Meixel and Howard Pyle. Last year, Sally Buzzy was left in Cold Storage. Hereis a blow torch, Sally, see if it will thaw you out. Walter Riddlehoover leaves his bulk and bulges to Lawton Box, who could stand a few in the right places, and his talkative ways to Charlotte Baum. Peggy Burks and Florence Williamson will their bangs to Betty Card- ner and Audrey Wolfe. Peek-a-boo, girls. Jeanette Young refuses to leave Billy. Nevertheless, Peggy Hund- ley's motto is K'All's Fair in Love and Warf, james Everett leaves his N. C. walk to anyone who desires to ac- quire it. He offers the first entry blank to Donna Jean DeMaggio. The Senior Class has compiled a list of its many and varied virtues. These we would like to present to Johnny Balance and Eddie Webb bound in satin ribbon to cushion the blow. Alvin Rodgers leaves Cherry a ball and chain and throws away the key. At the same time, he hopes Muscles, Conant gets caught in a pencil sharpener and is whittled down to his size. That,s a joke, son. Lola Minson leaves her face to I. P. Davenport. Incidentally I. P., to aid you in this delicate operation Cremoving your head, of coursel, you will iind a chisel and hack saw in the furnace room. We are sorry that Harold Childs doesn't possess a nag to leave to Carolyn Davis. In the place ot a seat in the saddle, he leaves her his seat in homeroom. Dorothy Mercer leaves her athletic ability to Jean Moore and Donald Davis and she suggests that in the future they participate in all the games as she didn't do in the past. Pat Newlin and Margaret Curtin, the constant two-some, bequeath to Barbara Belanga and Mary Anne Lee - - - something. Sorry, We can't figure out what it is yet. Several people have made remarks about Belle Hubbard,s' beautiful teeth. To please these, she is having them extracted and putting them among the trophies in the library for future classes' to ad- lHl1'6. Sonny White leaves his speed and split-second reactions, acquired from his associations with midget auto drivers to Edward Flanders and Robert Yon. Rosa White leaves her faithfulness to one man to Benny Haste, who thus far has had eyes only for Clara, and to Jack Price who pulls hall duty daily with Dorsey Mae. Marvin Yoder leaves his English IV notes to Jimmy Bagget and john Rittenhouse and, incidentally, boys, if you can spare them at any time, let Wayne Boggs have a peep. Ann Wimer leaves her ability to skip Physical Ed. to Helen Wilkie, Betty Turner, and Norma Jean Scott, who probably have already acquired it and not only for Physical Ed. They have shown, as did the previous one, that they could and would make a success of everything put before them. The juniors are truly represented in every club and activity in the high school program. They compose one of the most active classes in the en- tire school. Not only were they happy for the victories, but especially for one outstanding victory. The Kempsville gridders, coached by Al Hawkins, were made up of only 14 boys, as they entered the crucial game of the season against their close rivals, Oceana High School. The Cavaliers seemed a bit over-confident, as they boasted of a much better previous record. W Curly Young, Kempsvilleis leading scorer, brought the large crowd up when he took the ball on the first play of the game and scampered around left end for 65 yards to score. However, this was nullified because of a penalty. From near the 20-yard line Young carried it over to make it count. Oceana pushed over their lone tally in the second period to tie up the game. Seemingly aroused but not discouraged by the Cavalier score, the Blue Devils came out in the second half and really turned on the steam. Speedy Young sailed into pay dirt again for the Blue Devils to assure his teammates of a victory. But Everett, left end, converted by placement to put his team out in front, 13-6. Buddy Duplain bucked over the third Kempsville six- pointer in the last quarter. Thus, the Kempsville Blue Devils defeated the Oceana Cavaliers, 19-6, to take the Princess Anne County Championship. For the first time, the Vi1'gi11.ia Beach Sun, a local newspaper, awarded the victorius Blue Devils a beautiful trophy. Engraved on the back of the trophy are the names of the 14 spirited boys who deserve all the hours they can receive, managers and coach as well. Curly Young, team captain, was presented the trophy for the team, at a meeting for the presentation of the school monograms. A similar trophy will be awarded each year to the winner of this annual classic. It is rather difficult to state any definite positions that the boys played. Coach Hawkins had so few to choose from throughout the season and some were sidelined with injuries, while others started mid-season. Even with that, Weill try to give credit where credit is due. Filling the back positions at different times throughout the season were the following boys: Buddy Duplain, Harold Childs, I. P. Davenport, Curly Young, Alvin Rodgers, Lawton Box, Bay Sawyer, Herbert Foster, and Ernest Gray. Eddie WVebb played in the backfield near the end of the season. Rodgers was forced out with an injury. The linemen at different intervals included these: Walter Riddlehoover, Wes- ley Shipp, Victor Peck, Billy Hudgins, Eugene jones, Benny I-Iaste, Bud Everett, John Wimer, Eddie Webb, John Balance, Billy Davis, and Donald Davis. B. Davis dropped out and jones had to quit by doctoris orders: In the final game of the season Kempsville lost its last three substitutes, when three regulars, Webb, Riddlehoover, and Childs suffered injuries. Our hearty congratulations and appreciation go out to these boys who made it possible for dear oldv Kempsville High to gain these honors. Our one great hope is that the teams that represent the Kempsville Blue Devils in the future Will be full of the same fine spirit shown by these boys, this spirit of the blue and whiten will always stand for victory!!
