SOCIAL COMMITTEE One of the most hardworking and important of the Student Council’s committee’s, the Social Com¬ mittee is headed by chairman Clark Stevens XII-23 Other members are Marg. Smith X-35, Joan Sharpe XI-38, Ginny Toothill XI-22, Rod Small XI-32, John Wilson XI-24 and Lynn Stratton XI-22. This group organized all the dances held at Kelvin. The mini¬ mum number of dances that can be held each year is five but this ambitious bunch made plans for six. The sixth, the Co-ed Dance, a Sadie Hawkins type of affair was something new in this school. The biggest dance, Graduation, was different this year. All grade eleven rooms voted to have a dance at which the students were entertained at school. The Social Com¬ mittee organized the Freshie Dance, The Football Dance, The Hobo Hop and The Coronation Ball. Back Row: Martin Zimmerman, Bob McGill, John Wilson, Chrys Pappas. Front Row: Lynn Stratton, Marg Smith, Clark Stevens, Ginny Toothill, Joan Sharpe. GRADE TWELVE GOIMIL On a proposal by Mr. Cochrane for a means to improve the standing of the grade twelve students and to make this last year of high school more like university, the Grade Twelve Council was set up last fall. This Council is not part of the Student Council but its function is somewhat the same. The members have arranged dances to make up for the social activity the students miss by not attending university. A Grade Twelve Party was held in the fall and on April 13, students of this senior grade went to the Grads’ Farewell. The council has also arranged for the showing of movies such as “Hamlet” and “Pride and Prejudice” based on parts of the grade twelve literature course. Study labs have been organized in the Library on Wednesday nights. This group has the distinction of being able to say that it has carried out all its proposed plans. Back Row: David Farrel, Dave Lloyd, Richard Bemben. Fronl Row: Nick Grylick, Dossie Harrison, Mary-Ann Hay, Bob McGill. 13
