All at once there was a crashl I bang' ' and blackness Whenl regarned consclousness I was lylng on a hospttal bed In my bewrl dered state I looked around to frnd someone to talk to and soon a nurse came to my bed She smrled at me and asked me 1f I felt better I had the feelrng that I had seen her some where before so I asked her who she was She replted that her name was ROSE TURNER that I was rn the Wrlltam Hudspeth Hosprtal She explarned that four days before I had been brought Into the hosprtal unconscrous from a blow on my head when my auto had crashed She and Dr B111 Hudspeth had recognrzed me as one of thetr former classmates at K U H S and they were pleased to see that I had regarned conscrousness at last It seemed that DR BILL HUDSPETH had attarned a very hrgh reputauon as an M D and had founded thrs brg hosprtal All thrs left me cold as I could not remember ever hearrng of K U H S and my supposedly famous classmates B111 Hudsperh and Rose Turner But I was grateful that they had been so krnd to me After a few days they decrded to release me from the hosprtal and let me work out a new l1fe for myself under any name I chose s1nce I d1d not remember my real name Dr Brll told me thatl had amnesra and that he had done all he could for me He thought 1n trme perhaps through a shock of some krnd I would gradually regaln my memory and would be able to resume the course of my ltfe as rt had been before I landed In the hosprtal They found a job for me as a clerk at Everhart Inc The butcher rn thts super market was a fellow by the name of BOB TALLMAN who sald he remembered me from our school days too He satd that butcherrng meat was fme but he drd not lrke cleanrng chrckens It seemed hard for hrm to get the knack of rt However he rs a plucky fellow and has made good at hrs chosen professron I d1d not meet the boss of thrs establrshment fas Dr Bxll had obtamed the Job for mej untrl a few days later I had notrced that durrng the day there was always the soft strummlng of a gurtar to be heard through the market They told me that the boss ROY EVERHART durmg hrs hrgh school days had played the gurtar very well and had accompanred htmself on rt as he sang such old favorrtes as Tennessee Waltz and Remember Me for the assembly programs He had collected qurte a number of records featurmg gurtar musrc whrch were played over therr P A system all durmg the day One day I had a vrsttor a noted news photographer for the New York Ttmes DON HOBERG Dr Btll had told htm about me so he came out to take my prcture and ask me a lot of ques trons I could not answer very many of hrs quesuons but he put my plcture rn the paper and gave me qurte a wrtte up As a result many people who clarmed to be former classmates got tn touch wrth me . . . . , . ,, ,, s . .
