But the Longest Remembered iuifiion oom roce ure - Confinue Many division periods are spent in training students to properly fill out a multiplicity of forms our highly organized society finds necessary. Neither income tax blanks nor insurance applications will hold any terrors for students who have acquired the technique of following directions to the letter under Mr. Nelson. All divisions look forward to Clarion day, for keeping informed on school activities is a must, These students read thoroughly in hopes of finding some of their own contributions in print, The responsibility of the school for helping each student achieve all-round development through the realization of his best possi- bilities as an individual and as a citizen in a democracy rests largely upon the division teacher. The uniqueness and worth of the in- dividual is demonstrated in divi- sion room committee work. Here Miss Fitzgerald is conferring with representatives of 21-i on a mat- ter alifecting the interests of this BA group. 27

The Shortest Period of the Day lUl5l0l'l 00711 POC? llI'0 - 60l'ltil'lLl86l Division, however, is more than a briefing period. It is the pause that refreshes. How good it is to relax formal classroom procedure for informal visiting with division teacher or fellow stu- dents! Wlien refreshments, a grab-bag, and entertainment are added-as they are at the Christmas parties-even a long division is much too brief. 4B divisions, working as a unit in 315, undertake weighty projects requiring clear thinking and careful expenditure of hard-earned wages. Whether it is a question of law or finance, Mr. Philbin is competent to point the way to the wisest choice. Occasionally Mr. McKeag addresses the large group of 4A's assembled for division in the audi- torium, A collection of canned food to alleviate the plight of children in war-torn areas is underway in this class. The worthiness of the cause prompts a generous response, and the committees in charge proceed to pack the donations. With an ease that intrigues and speed that brings smiles upon the faces of the assembled group, Mr. Keating outlines a sequence of subjects which will enable his students to meet commercial course requirements, and, at the same time, fulfill college entrance prerequisites. 26

eniord With grim determination we have studied and worked to gain this exalted senior rank. Now, we look back on our years at Kelly, and with a heavy sigh, close the doors, never again to realize the days of lessons and fun-fests in the most enjoyable phase of our lives. We walk now, out of the role of senior, to display our newly acquired adulthood to best advantage in our future vocations, whatever they may be. A student is not lost to Kelly-a citizen is gained to the world. 28
