CECILE PRATT Cecile proved to be one of the best citizens. at Kearny. She served as President of Dianas, a member of A.F.S., Prom Committee, and C.S.F. Ce- cile was Junior Editor of the 1964 Komet and Edi- tor-In-Chief of the 1965 Komet. Along with these activities she maintained a 3.5 grade average. STEVE IRWIN Steve performed excellent work in the field of math- ematics. He received the Bank of America trophy for mathematics and proved to be a valuable member of the math team. Steve also excelled in sci- ence as well as his other subjects maintaining a 3.5 grade average. : RICHARD KNOTT Richard was a very active student on the campus spending most of his time preparing for debates and speech tournaments. He was especially talented in debate and impromptu speaking, and social stud- ies. Richard graduated with a 3.7 grade average. JAMIE TOWNSEND Jamie was another out- standing athlete. He played Junior Varsity foot- ball as a sophomore and lettered in his junior and senior years as a member of the Varsity football team. Also Jamie served his class as Senior Presi- dent and maintained an above average academic record. MARY WILLIS Mary served as a social leader as well as an aca- demic leader in her grad- uating class. While main- taining a grade point av- erage of 3.2, Mary found time to participate as President of Girls’ league, a member of C.S.F., Di- anas, and the After Prom Committee.

ROBERTO GARCIA Although he was not a part of the A.F.S. Exchange program, Roberto, whose full name is Mario Roberto Garcia Murga, has helped with many A.F.S. activities this year. Before he came to the U.S. he lived in Guatemala. He was impressed by the freedom given to the people of America, and also by the great advances made in every field. Roberto liked Kearny because it was a bigger school and also because it was coeducational. He had fun at football games cheering for the victorious Komets. He partici- pated in sports and enjoyed singing with fellow students and going on dates. Roberto has found many friends at Kearny among the teachers and stu- dents alike. Foreign Exchange Olena with her sister and broth- er in America, Leslie and Den- nis Dassoff. Both Olena and Roberto use and enjoy the excellent facili- ties in Kearny’s library. OLENA MANZANILLA Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Olena was very im- pressed by the friendliness of the American people. At eight- een, she felt quite at home in the U.S. She was proud to be a Komet and added her own enthusiasm to the abounding school spirit. Olena enjoys mu- sic and art and has attended concerts and art shows when- ever she could. She found the architecture at La Jolla especi- ally fascinating. Olena was truly a welcome and pleasant addi- tion to Kearny this year.
