Carousel Twirls This year's school musical, Carousel, by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein was a glittering success. The story, which is adapted from Liliom by Ferenc Molnar, concerns a handsome carnival barker, Billy Bigelow, who falls in love with a small-town girl, Julie Jordan. After they are married and Billy learns he is about to become a father, he re- sorts to robbery to provide for his family. During the robbery, Billy is killed accidentally when he slips and falls in his knife. In heaven, Billy asks for the chance to return to the earth for one day to express his On Kearns Stage love for his wife and daughter. When he returns, his daughter, who is fifteen years old, has be- come hot tempered and rebel- lious like Billy. But in the end, Billy is able to inspire his wife and daughter with hope for the future. The Drama Department is to be congratulated for this fine production. An improved sound system contributed greatly to the audiencels enjoyment. The musicians, carpenters, and stage crew also deserve com- mendation for their work in making this musical a fine suc- cess. and his name is Mr. Snow 92 Musical Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan meet at Mullins Carousel.
