Crew Works Behind Scenes The Stage Crew is in charge of making scenery and running the sound and light systems for school plays, assemblies, and other programs. They also re- pair torn curtains, and fix broken pulley systems. One of their perennial headaches has been the faulty sound system which was finally tuned up this year and now works Very well. Mr. Don Spilker was the fac- ulty advisor for the Stage Crew again this year. We would like to thank the Stage Crew for all of their help in making our as- semblies run smoothly. Ushers Help At Assemblies The Ushers' Club is com- posed of athletes who help maintain order and respect dur- ing assemblies. A polite word from them can be more effec- tive than a reprimand from a faculty member. The advisors for this year's Ushers' Club were coaches Kenyon Clark and Dale Robertson. The student body would like to thank the Ushers' Club for helping make our assemblies more orderly and enjoyable. Language Clubs Prove Popular All three of the language clubs were pop- ular this year: French, German, and Span- ish. The advisors for these groups were Mrs. Steiner, Mr. Spilker, and Mrs. Linares. The Spanish Club held several parties and sponsored a Spanish Week. During Spanish Week, they spoke Spanish one whole day and held a program with Spanish speaking guests another day. They also planned a trip to Mexico for the summer. The German Club attended Oktoberfest at Snowbird where they ate German food, participated in festivities, and won second place in the ice cream eating contest. To raise funds, they sold gummy bears and pickles. The French Club held a party at the end of each month and attended two foreign language fairs. They also went to a French restaurant in April to experience the cui- sine. All the language clubs participated in the B.Y.U. Language Fair in March.
