ei-We ? 19? Mr. Stark conducts practice session. Choir Seeks Excellence The Concert Choir consists of 60 singers, most of whom are seniors. In order to join the Choir, candidates must pass ex- tensive tryouts. The Choir performs at many concerts throughout the year. In the fall, they perform at the annual Veteran's Day Concert which is held in the Special Events Center at the Universi- ty of Utah. For this concert, they become part of a 700 voice choir which is made up of stu- dents from throughout the Granite School District. The 23rd Army Band accompanies them. The Concert Choir also per- forms at church functions, Temple Square, and the Region Festival. At Region, they are given a written cirtique of their performance. The main goal of the Concert Choir is to strive for excellence. Concert Choir performs at the Christmas program. Concert Choir 147

Choirs Practice Fundamentals? Jazz Band Adds Pep To Rallies Treble Clef Choir and Mixed Choir are basic vocal music classes which prepare students for more advanced classes such as Concert Choir and Madri- gals. Mr. Phil Stark is the facul- ty advisor for both groups. This year, Treble Clef consisted of 25 girls, and Mixed Choir con- sisted of 50 males and females. These groups Worked hard to establish good techniques and Jazz Band performs at bas- ketball games and pep rallies. They also performed at the Christmas Concert and marched with the Marching Band in Southern Utah. The highlight of the year for them was the Jazz Band Festival from which they learned about jazz styles of music. Mr. Ron Hamblin is the faculty advisor for the Jazz Band. styles of performing.
