Congress Seeks More Involvement During the past couple of years, Congress has evolved from a formal legislative body into a diverse student council. The goal of this change is great- er student involvement and better communication between student leaders and the student body. This year, for instance, each first period class elected a student to serve as their repre- sentative in the House of Re- presentatives. Other members of Congress included the Sen- ate, Cheerleaders, and the offi- cers of various organizations such as the student body offi- cers and class officers. Club of- ficers also participated in Con- gress in order to represent the interests of their organizations. This year, Mrs. Elaine Bur- rows served as the faculty advi- sor to the Congress. These peo- ple should be congratulated for their spirit of public responsi- bility. Jim serves drinks to landscaping volunteers

Varsity Cheerleaders Grab Top Honors For the Varsity Cheer- leaders, the school year began under the hot summer sun with a lot of hard Work, for it was then that they prepared for their cheerleading camps. The hard work eventually paid off when they Won both the superi- or trophy and the spirit stick at the U.S.A. Camp which was held at Utah State University in Logan. The Varsity squad also Won first place over all at the University of Utah Cheer- leading Competition. During fall and winter, the Varsity Cheerleaders partici- pated in Homecoming, present- ed pep assemblies, and pre- pared a very fine Spirit Week. Their efforts kept enthusiasm high and added color to our ath- letic contests. Under the leadership of head cheerleader Wendy Walters and advisors Mrs. Linda Pear- son and Mrs. Kim Baker, the Varsity Cheerleaders did a fine job over all and represented Kearns well. The 1983-84 Cheerleaders were NUMBER ONE! Look, Mom, no hands Wendy WHVLGTS, Head Chefffleiidef Lona Miller, Mascot Jimmy Bottoms 12 Varsity Cheerleader
