Golden Girls proved their talent this year by performing a variety of dances at football games, bas- ketball games, pep assemblies, and wrestling matches. Their season began early when they attended pom- pon camp at SMSU. It was a week of massive hysteria. The average bedtime being I a.m. and the average wake-up time being 5:30. The reason for such little sleep - practice, practice, practice! The girls were split up into small groups. mostly two's, and were taught a dance that they later had to perform before a panel of judges. These dances they would later teach to the squad to perform at various sport events at home. Many positive comments were received from the student body, the parents, and the teachers con- cerning their routines. Secretary, Janet Hayes, comment- ed, I was really impressed this year with the Golden Girls. They showed me a great deal of character by their dedica- tion and desire to make a good showing for their school. Every morning when coming to school you could find them in the band room practicing. This showed me that they are trustworthy, reliable, and dedicated to a goal. That dedica- tion proved itself in their performances. They not only per- formed well, but showed a great deal of personality while performing. I think it was very fitting that such a terrific group of girls would climax their year at the State Basket- ball finals in Columbia. This was a very special year for the Golden Girls as they practiced each day before and af- ter school, they grew very close and shared many memora- ble moments. Among their favorite routines were, Egypt. Let it all Blow, Big Bad Wolf, and Shake a Tail Feather. The Golden Girls would also like to thank Mr. Buckmanand Mrs. Goss for their support and help throughout the year. ABOVE: VENTURING HOME FROM CAMP, BECKI PETERSON. KRISTI SOLIGO.
