This year's track season 7 turned out to be an outstanding t one. All of the team members worked hard to do their best in P the events in which they were competing by putting many long hard hours of practice in and by using a lot of determina- tion. At all of the invitationals in which they took part, be- tween 8-ll teams competed. In the other meets, they compet- ed against 8 teams in the MRVC Conference, I8 teams at dis- trict, and 55 schools at state. Although competition at ev- ery level was tough, our boys did very well individually too. Greg Marshall medaled in the 3200 meter run at every invita- tional and Mike Miller medaled in all meets up until conference. Mike Philips set a new school record in the triple jump and also qualified for sectionals. Robby Jensen won everything inthe I6OO and 3200 up until dis- trict and qualified for section- als 8 state. Finally, Brad Feld- Camp qualified for sectionals Grid state and was lst place Slate champion in the pole vault Event. Coach Wepler said The leam improved a lot this year. 4 T GIRL' Vfiaf TRACK The girls' track team had an exceptional season this year. Things start- ed looking good when they took first place at Liberty. This helped install the confidence that would help them succeed throughout the track season. But winning didn't come easy. The girls had to work together during the long, difficult practices. They were pushed to the limits, but they knew that in order to win and have pride, they must be pushed. They knew eventually this dedication would pay off. And it did. At the MRVC, which took place at Boonville, the girls received first place as a team again. They also had alot of individual firsts, such as Brenda Peugh in the open 800. The two mile relay team and the 800 meter relay team also took first place. Michelle Coleman took 2nd at sectionals in the mile and qualified for state. Janel Teiken placed 8th in the 3200 meter at state. The girls worked very hard this season. The was a lot of effort and dedi- cation to the sport. They are hopeful for next season but are also sad to see this successful season come to an end.
