Since then, the caliber of talent hasn't changed, except to improve. This year the kids have begun the tradition of ex- cellence, although it's always been good, said director, Bryan Taylor. This year Pop Choir has been added into the curriculum. It's helped a lot because we've been able to practice every day and it's become more unified, claimed senior, Sabra Greason. With this addi- XWWN-'Q x Jennifer Lawson enthralls the congregation with her powerful performance of Upon This church service in Steelville. The fall was a time to get to know each other. Sabra said, I didn't really know anybody when I first got in there, but now it's a lot of fun. It's my favorite class. The choir's major goal was Dis- trict Music Contest, held in March. Their efforts certainly paid off - they received a I rating on their performance. Senior Christy Rush stated, Because of the different mu- sical style, it required more concen- tration and a good attitude. The climax of the year was the trip to Steelville, Missouri CTayIor's hometownb. They gave an evening concert there and an informal one at Six Flags amusement park on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the bus broke down on the way back to Steelville from the park. I learned so much about everyone. Especially when the bus broke down Saturday night. For two hours all we had to do was sit there and talk, said Melinda Lein, a senior. The next day the group en- joyed a relaxing picnic at Meramec Springs State Park. From there, the choir made the return trip to Kearney - on a bus sent from home. On a closing note, Taylor claimed proudly, This year's Pop Choir is def- initely the best they could possibly be. n X Y I - if Akif' ,Nj 'Zi-yi-hfjg My 1, 212, 3 Y 1, , Q , , m -A 1, , I nf. The wonderful thing about the ama- teur chorus is that nobody can buy its attendance at rehearsals, or the sweat, eye-strain, and fatigue that go along with the glow, And nobody but the most purposi ve and creative of music minds - from Bach in both directions - can invite and sustain its devotion.
