Jason placed 9th in the Nation in the advertising competition! The music department took 4 people, Steven Sowel, Melinda Lein, Sabra Greason, and Christy Rush to compete at state. They stayed in Columbia for 2 days. They received ratings for their performances on a scale of I-5 Cl being the bestj. No one who went received less than a 2 for their perfor- mances. Jeff Cunningham, who attends VoTech at Excelsior Springs, also went all the way to Nationals for VlCA. Another organization, Industrial Arts Club, also had people who compet- ed in contests. Senior Paul King received a blue ribbon for his butcher block table. Junior Tommy Cull made a headboard and received a red ribbon. Mr. Tummons, the IA teacher, said he thought that the projects were completed with excellent quality. A lot of time and effort was put in in order to go to state by many differ- ent people. These people should be commended for their work. These were only a few of those to be recognized. Many other individuals and groups competed and did well in their areas also.
