- V , . V, . ng-f Striving For The Best . . Kearney High has many different organizations and groups that the student body takes part in. Most people don't realize that many of the orga- nizations work and strive hard to compete in various competitions at the District, State, and even National levels. Many long hours are spent studying, practicing, and training in order to be ready for competition. Freezing weather, long bus trips and late nights studying are just a few of the trials the students go thru in preparation for competition. The football team made it all the way to the quarter finals, after a long, enduring season. They practiced and played in every type weather imagin- able. Another group, DECA, sent Michelle Keith, Jason Barker, Julie New- comer, Ruthie Middleton, and Elizabeth Smith to compete in state contest. They stayed at the Lodge of the Four Seasons on the Lake of the Ozarks. They spent many hours reading and studying books dealing with areas in which they competed, Qsuch as advertising, apparel 8 accessories, etc.D and then were tested over them. Jason Barker S Elizabeth Smith did well enough at the state level to go on and compete in National Competition in New Or- 24 Striving For The Best KHS ,- leans Grea for 2 Cl bel mana went ed ir table Tum with ent I only com for 1 2 W., -35 E, i sf n 1 n' gf W I ' ' ' ' l T A' fl - 'I T w t ' - naw.,
