T iss GRADU no This year there was a break in the usual tradition of holding graduation on the football field. Why? Because of the uncooperative weather. First it would rain, then the sun would shine and it was hot and humid - back and forth. The decision to hold the ceremony in the gym turned out to be a wise Cand dryb one as it did rain again during part of graduation. The high school band opened with a processional in which the Administration, Speakers, and Board members marched in followed by the class of '87 and KHS staff. The senior's class flower was the yellow rose. Bef. nard Branson, Church of the Annunciation, gave the Invocation and Baccalaureate address. The KHS girls trio sang No Goodbyes and were followed by a welcome from class president, Jeff Grant. Speeches were given by Salutatorian, Danny Hamp. l ton and Valedictorian, Steve Trost. The trumpet trio played Fanfare and Air . Dr, Yehle then introduced the speaker, Dr. Wesley Forbis, Executive Director of the Music Department of the Southern Baptist Convention. Following the speaker, Mr. Heriford presented the class of '87 and Chastain Parks, Board Vice Pres- ident, presented the diplomas. The Prayer of St. Francis was performed by the Chamber Choir and Christy Rush sang a solo. Wayne Welch of the Christ's Fellowship Church closed the ceremony with the benediction. The sen- iors ended the happy occasion by throwing their hats into the airl so ...S l ' f Q 4 , , 7 f f Af, X If 1 jj!
