- e o, ohool Board , ' nor I. munus if Z r Sitting, l-r: Elmer Manka, Roy Williams, Charles Pilant. Standing: Larry Cox, Charles King, Harold Haines. We would like to express our gratitude to the Board of Education for their time and effort that has helped to make Kearney one of the best school systems in this area. Maintaining an adequate school system that's growing as rapidly as ours is, is a tough and demanding job and our board has done their part and more this past year. One of the board's major accomplishments was the passing of a bond allowing the construction of a new high school. Dr. Harry Pfeiffer was replaced on the school board by Larry Cox, and Kenneth Davis was appointed to finish the term of Roy Williams, who resigned. 108

ii- Kearney R-1 Superintendent orman J. Herndon Congratulations to Mr. Fields and the publication staff for another excellent edition of the CLIPPER. This has been a year when we have seen K.H.S. continue its' growth, moving into AAA classification in athletics for the first time, and a time when we found the classrooms in all buildings bulging at the seamsng a situation that will be corrected as the result of a 75913 favorable vote on building bonds to be used to begin the first phase of a new high school building. This year was marked by the most severe winter in history. It was a year when we saw inflation run rampant at a ten percent rate, shortage of fuel, a steadily rising price on the gasoline pump, and the United States resumed diplomatic relations with China. The graduating seniors will be entering into a world that has many uncertainties that will present a challenge for all of them. It is my sincere hope that they have taken full advantage of the educational opportunities that have been made available to them at K.H.S. Those that have will emerge as our leaders of tomorrow. Congratulations to the staff for a job Well done n the CLIPPER! Sincerely, K' ff , . 1' fy rf he 9 25 . 5x V , ' MJ' 5, f g 1 ' I Emma Campbell - Secretary
