Dr. Jean Richardson has displayed in her teaching a profes- sional devotion worthy of emulation. Students find her classes not only interesting and stimulating, but also practical and ap- plicable. Much of the value of her teaching, however, is not merely in content, but in the methods and manner in which she presents it. She is not only a gifted teacher, but one who practices what she preachesf' and for this she is held in the greatest of esteem. Moreover, Dr. Richardson is interested in her students beyond a professional capacity. As advisor to the Traditions and Pro- cedures Committee, she is concerned with the establishment of a heritage of tradition at Newark State. As a friend, she is always willing to offer help and advice to any student who desires it. In this way she has devoted countless hours of her time to both pro- fessional and non-professional counseling. Dr. Iean Richardson typifies the type of teacher we would like to become. To The Class of 1963: Year after year as each class goes forth as graduates from the College, our hopes and aspirations go with you, first of all, for success in our profession of teaching, next, for success in life. It is this latter phase of success I should like to em- phasize this year. Man has always thought his current dilemma, in whatever age he lived, to be climactic. Wfe, too, feel that in this year four own lives and the world at large is indeed in a climactic lstage. Rather than stand back and watch it explode, or stand ion top of it and have it explode under us, we are each in a lposition to do something about it. The learning you have ,been acquiring for the past four years, information of the lworld in which you live and the people who live with you gin that world, must not stop at this point, but must be ac- icelerated and continued so that you each may make your irendezvous with destiny in seeing that you are informed and Earticulate about the need of world controls of the forces of inations, that you do something about it in its early stage of ,your lifetime, lest there bc no lifetime for any of us. The itraining for leadership has been your privilegcg thc role of 'leadership is your obligation. Sincerely yours, EUGENE G. VVILKINS President , e-R'-1 Eugene G. Wilkins
