In an age of ever-changing scientific, technical, and cultural ad- vances, man attempts to find meaning. His constant probing of the world which he inhabits, his investigation into outer space, and his questioning of his own soul are an indication of his earnest attempt to understand life. The Class of 1960 gives this yearbook a twofold dedication: First, to man ' s ideal of freedom to comprehend, enjoy, and live his existence in the fashion most applicable to his individual character. Secondly, to the example, leadership, and inspiration of two persons who exemplify this ideal: Mr. Rychard Fink and Mr. Vance Snyder. Mr. Rychard Fink has personified the intellectual pursuit of man by his institution of the 1958 lecture series entitled The Intellectual and the Democratic Public, his organization of the John Dewey Centen- nial and Lecture Series, his leadership of the honor society Kappa Delta Pi, and his stature as an educator and man. Mr. Vance Snyder exemplifies man ' s dedication to service and the welfare of others through his constant advice, inspiration, and labor as advisor to the Class of 1960, his professional service to Newark State College in the production layout and printing of important col- lege publications including the four Middle States Self-Evaluation Re- ports as well as the Dedication Brochures of the D ' Angola Gymnasium and the Nancy Thompson Library, his enthusiasm and practicality as an educator, and his dignity as an individual. Thus we devote the 1960 MEMORABILIA to a twofold dedication, each complimenting the other, for of what worth is an ideal if men do not live up to it? VANCE SNYDER Ywan -■
