LX,- Full speed oheod ond may there be no mournful forewells The year I957 occupies a unique spoT in The hisTory oT The college. IT cannoT escape being a Turning poinT, a mileposT Trom which laTer evenTs will be reckoned. IT is unusual ThaT a college moves Trom The ciTy and counTy of iTs birTh, more Than a cenTury ago, To a new campus in anoTher ciTy and counTry. The acTual relocaTion is noT so specTacular as The meTamorphosis The college is To undergo as The move Takes place. The one acre in Newark be- comes one hundred and TwenTy acres: The one building becomes Tive wiTh a goodly number more in The planning sTages. The college will have room Tor TuTure dormiTories To become a residenT college, room To broaden The cur- ricular oTTerings so ThaT many sTudenTs may obTain educaTions in various Tields and aT varying levels. The college leaves an ouT-grown home wiTh all The pangs of nosTalgia TelT in leaving any home in which one has been nourished, TelT secure, ac- cumulaTed precious memories oT liTTle incidenTs grown dear wiTh Time. BuT by mosT TorTunaTe choice, meeTing The highesT expecTaTions, and noT Through dispossession, does The college go TorTh. A Triendly sTar is shining somewhere. IT is almosT providenTial ThaT This land should be made available aT The Time The college had To move. As The year T957 is memorable, so musT The graduaTes of This year be- come a memorable class: TirsT, Through chance oT being The lasT class To be graduaTed Trom The old building, and, second, leT us hope, Through iTs high achievemenT in The years To come. Sincerely, Eugene G. Wilkins PresidenT
