After the freshmen have been initiated into the intricacies of regis- tration, and the uppcrfclassmen have gone through the familiar routine, the student body convenes on Convocation Day to meet and be met. During th,e days that follow, the college takes on an aspect of bedf lam. Everybody suddenly becomes bookfconscious and longfsuffering bookfstore clerks are delugetl with demands. Locker rooms are turned into impromptu places of big business transactions and bulletin boards are crammed with threefbyffive cards announcing bargains offered by owners of books much-used, but in good conditionf' As if all this were not enough to bewilder the poor freshmen, they become victims of the pentfup energy of the upperfclassmen, and hazing becomes the thing of the day. Even the cafeteria does not escape it all. Here may be found, any lunch hour, groups of old or newlyffound friends busily reliving summer experiences. Almost before we realize it, the hitherto noisy hum settles down to a gentle murmur of regulated activity as college life begins in earnest.
