Health and physical education, though com- pulsory always ranked as a favorite for lads and lassies during their freshmen and sopho- more years at Kauai High School. Energetic students participated in various sports, learned the functions of their bodies and gained a thorough understanding of health necessities. Units in P. E. included calisthenics, volley- ball, basketball, football, and baseball. Units in health classes included first aid, communi- cable diseases, and anatomy. Throughout the school days, Kauai High School radio hams made contacts with other amateur operators all over the world. The ra- dio class, along with the mathematical science classes, physics and chemistry, were advised by Mr. Nose, The biology and general science classes, tutored by Mr. Kato attracted many scientific minded students. Countless axioms, theorems, and postulates were presented in geometry classes, With new- ly learned knowledge, students gained insight to problems dealing with areas and distances GOSH! THIS IS FUN! of equilateral triangles, rhomboids, circles and squares. Difficult problems were solved through the application of algebra and trige onornetry.
