Seventh graders have become acquainted with our nearest Spanish-speaking neigh- bor, Mexico, Through learning the lan- guage and keeping a notebook with ret- erences on living, eating, and recreation habits ot the Mexican people together with current events about this country and other Spanish-speaking countries. In high school Spanish students have swiftly learned to speak the language through impromptu and rehearsed con- versations, playlets, and listening exer- cises. Proiects having to do with Mexican culture are prepared by first and second year students, adding interest to the course and variety to the classroom. I The National Thespian Society is an edu- cational honor and service organization of teachers and students established for the advancement of dramatic arts in the secondary schools. The aims of the so- ciety are twofold: to establish and ad- vance standards of excellence in all phases of dramatic art, and to create an active and intelligent interest in dramatic arts among boys and girls in high school. zeeedfal The Tiger Chat is a weekly mimeographed newspaper published by voluntary mem- bers of the Press Club to express the panorama of life in our school, each issue filled with special meaning and excite- ment for those who have lived it. The hours are long-art work, editorial, fea- tures, proofs, and there is not much satis- faction. We, the staff, consider this year's ex- perience a privilege and extend our ap- preciation to the student body for their co-operation, spirit, enthusiasm, and to our sponsor, Mrs. Hamilton, for her super- vision and assistance. Activities of the Library Club included making bulletin boards every other week, straightening the magazine room, straight- ening bookshelves, pasting magazines into volumes, and handing out past due book slips. The club enioyed watching film strips, pre- senting an assembly program, discussion of books that members have read, and at- tending the Teen Age Library Association convention at which Karen McDonald was presented as a candidate for State His- torian. 56 alone ' During the year, the Future Secretaries dis- cussed the various iobs open to persons applying for secretarial work. The clothes and accessories of a secretary were pointed out as to the apparels a person would wear. The most important item discussed was the application for a iob. Since the obiective of the club is to pro- mote and to help those interested in secre- tarial work, various members typed manu- scripts and papers for members of school. Shorthand speed tests were also given to obtain a greater dictation speed. gyhauz S 12th Senior Junior Sophomore Freshman Eighth Seventh Sixth Fifth Fourth Third Second First Kindergarten Senicvw SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS President-Kenneth Reaves Vice-President-Richard Fussell Secretary-Johness Brown Treasurer-Wayne Leggett Sergeant-at-Arms-Thad Smith SPONSORS Mr. Fred Ruland Mrs. Mayme Hamilton Mr. Theodore Lammert ROOM MOTHERS Mrs. L.
