Visual Arts at K.H.S. include: lettering, designing, drawing Qlife, still life, perspec-
tivej, posters, printing Qblock, silk screenj, painting Qtempera, water color, oilsj,
sculpture Qmodeling, carving, buildingj, pottery, weaving, and many other crafts.
The art room is a laboratory for the experiencing and experimenting with the
media available. The approach to any project is the creative approach. There are usually
two problems in the experiencing and experimenting. These are: "What is the subject
to be?" and "How to handle the media?" From this an attempt is made to produce
and not reproduce. An attempt is made to re-create something by the manipulation of
the tools and materials. Methods are demonstrated as possibilities for proceeding-the
student then should add his ideas by experimenting with the media. The result
will be new color or colors, or color combinations, new designs, new patterns, new
crafts, and most of all an inner self-satisfaction of accomplishment by being an in-
